<BUYER'S RECOMMENDATION>

A wisteria propagates itself easily, and has been regarded as an auspicious plant in Japan. The YATSUFUJI design becomes graceful by applying a wisteria flower pattern with precisely cut gold leaf on a noble color purple ground.

<BRAND RELEASE>

Kinzan kiln is a pottery manufacturer located in Takado-cho, Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, that specializes in overglaze painting of Kutani ware. Since the first generation Shosaku Yoshida opened here in 1906, the kiln has been burning for about 110 years and has been producing pottery. Kutani ware, which developed as an official kiln for the Kaga domain in the 17th century, is characterized by its detailed and gorgeous painting, such as overglaze painting using five colors and gold brocade. During the Meiji period, it was widely exported overseas under the name "Japan Kutani", and its techniques and beauty of form have been highly praised around the world. Kinzan kiln has inherited the various techniques that Kutani has developed and is making use of them in its current pottery production. Kinzan kiln is particularly skilled in the technique of gold painting. Since the first generation, who was skilled in overglaze brocade, the company has been characterized by painting using gold. The third generation, Mito, has perfected the technique of "underglaze gold leaf" and has been recognized as a holder of the nationally designated important intangible cultural property (living national treasure). The fourth generation, Yukion Yoshida, continues to hone his skills while exploring new ways of expressing colored gold leaf that are in tune with the times.
